Financial headwinds are also weighing on Vynova, a European producer of suspension PVC and vinyl intermediates.
After shutting down PVC production last year at its Beek-Geleen site in the Netherlands (see article), the group filed in December for insolvency proceedings for its Wilhelmshaven site in Germany and its Runcorn site in the United Kingdom.
In the first case, the Local Court of Wilhelmshaven accepted the application for insolvency, appointing Christian Kaufmann of Pluta Rechtsanwalts as provisional administrator.
Operating since 1981, Vynova Wilhelmshaven runs one of Europe’s largest plants for the production of suspension PVC (S-PVC), as well as vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). The German site employs 360 people, whose wages are guaranteed until the end of February. The objective is to keep the facilities operating while a long-term solution is sought.
