Mutares has completed the acquisition of Magna’s Car Top Systems (CTS) business, which specialises in roof kinematic systems and active aerodynamic systems for the automotive industry.

The transaction establishes CTS as an independent automotive supplier under Mutares’ ownership and will see the company integrated into the HILO platform within Mutares’ Automotive & Mobility segment.

CTS traces its origins to 1996, when it was founded as a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. It became wholly owned by Porsche in 2003 and was subsequently acquired by Magna.

Headquartered in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, CTS also has operations in Poland, China, Mexico and Japan and generates revenues of approximately €75 million. Its product portfolio includes convertible tops, retractable hard tops, sliding and folding roof systems and spoilers for sports cars, luxury and premium vehicles, as well as high-volume models.

At the end of June, Mutares also completed, through Amaneos, the acquisition of Magna’s European automotive lighting business, which had been announced in April.
