Italian thermoplastic compounder Sirmax has celebrated 20 years of manufacturing operations in Poland with employees and partners at its Kutno site in the Lódz Special Economic Zone.

The venture began in 2006 with the opening of the company’s first plant in Poland and its first outside Italy, supported by an investment of around €70 million.
The original polypropylene compounding facility, Kutno 1, was joined in 2020 by Kutno 2, which is dedicated to high-performance glass fibre-reinforced materials.

The workforce has grown from an initial 20 employees to 132, while the number of compounding lines has increased from two to 16, bringing annual production capacity to almost 85,000 tonnes.

“Twenty years ago, Kutno was our first step outside Italy,” commented Massimo Pavin, Chairman and CEO of Sirmax Group. “Today, it is one of the Group’s most important industrial hubs in Europe: a modern, efficient and continuously evolving site that has grown alongside our customers and the local community.”
“Poland was a choice based on trust: in its people, the local area and the ability to build shared value over time,” Pavin added. “Looking ahead, our objective is to further strengthen Kutno’s role as the Group’s European platform, supporting Sirmax’s international growth, accelerating materials innovation and contributing to the transition towards increasingly sustainable industrial models.”

Sirmax currently operates 13 production plants: six in Italy, two in Poland, one in Brazil, two in the United States and two in India. The group employs 850 people and generates revenue of approximately €420 million.
