Polyblend, a German company of the TotalEnergies group active in the compounding of polyolefins and engineering plastics, will invest €4 million at its Bad Sobernheim site to increase production capacity for grades containing mechanically recycled materials.
The project involves upgrading and expanding an existing line to produce a new generation of recycled compounds designed to meet growing demand from the automotive sector, also in light of the new requirements set out in the European End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Regulation, which establishes minimum recycled plastic content for new vehicles.
The line is scheduled to start operations at the end of 2027, with a production capacity of up to 15,000 tonnes per year of compounds based on recycled feedstock.
“This investment is a tangible demonstration of our ambition to accelerate the development of circular polymers and expand our portfolio of recycled solutions. By leveraging existing industrial infrastructure, we can optimize resources used while maximizing the efficiency of our investments and position Polyblend as a key partner in the circular economy,” said Michel Cassart, Polyblend Site Director.
