Swedish elastomer and thermoplastic compounding specialist Hexpol has agreed to acquire 100% of Italy’s Vipa Group for €143.5 million on a cash- and debt-free basis.
Headquartered in Ancarano, central Italy, Vipa Group comprises VI.PA. Srl and Vipa Polimeri Srl.
Founded in 1969 by Vincenzo Paolini and owned until now by the Paolini family, the Abruzzo-based company operates two production plants and a research and development centre, where it formulates thermoplastic compounds, with a particular focus on the Wire & Cable segment.
In 2025, the company generated revenues of €76.4 million and employed around 80 people.
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
Under the sale agreement, the Paolini family will support Hexpol during an 18-month transition period, while current CEO Nicola Vigolo will continue to manage the company as a subsidiary of the Swedish group.
Upon completion of the transaction, Vipa Group will become part of Hexpol’s Thermoplastic Compounding business area, alongside subsidiaries Hexpol Izmir and Hexpol Vilafranca, which were previously included in the Rubber Compounding division.
“The acquisition of Vipa Group marks an important step in executing the growth strategy for the new business area Thermoplastic Compounding that was presented at our Capital Markets Day in November 2025,” said Peter Rosén, acting CEO and CFO of Hexpol, until August. “It also demonstrates our ambition to build a leading thermoplastics platform through both organic growth and acquisitions.”
Hexpol manufactures materials and finished products across three business areas: Rubber Compounding, Thermoplastic Compounding and Engineered Products. The group employs around 5,000 people and generated sales of SEK 19.3 billion in 2025, equivalent to approximately €1.8 billion.
On 1 August 2026, Henrik Elmin, currently a member of the Board of Directors, took over leadership of the Swedish group.
