After 56 years leading Plastipak, William C. Young (left in the picture) has decided to step down from his role as the head of the U.S.-based manufacturer of PET and plastic packaging. He will be succeeded by his son-in-law, Edward V. Morgan (right in the picture), as president and CEO, ensuring generational continuity for the company Young founded in 1967 alongside his parents.

William C. Young will remain with the company as chairman of the board, and the family will retain ownership of Plastipak, keeping it a privately owned family business.

In addition to his leadership at Plastipak, Young has been dedicated to giving back to the community. In 1990, he founded Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars, a nonprofit scholarship and college access program empowering and supporting local students to achieve postsecondary success. He has also served on the board of trustees of Scholarship America and as a board member for the University of Detroit Mercy.

Edward V. Morgan has been with Plastipak for more than 20 years, serving in various management and executive roles, including senior vice president of operations, extrusion development, global manufacturing processes and intellectual property. He also served as director of transportation for Whiteline Express and most recently as an executive advisor at Plastipak. Before joining Plastipak, he worked at Deloitte Consulting and Ford Motor Co.
He has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Ohio State University.

Plastipak specializes in rigid packaging and plastic recycling. It operates about 40 plants globally, including 14 in Europe.
