In just three years since its launch, the RecyClass - Recycling Process Certification has grown to cover 60% of Europe’s installed plastics recycling capacity, establishing itself as the leading certification scheme for plastics traceability.

In 2024, certified recycling capacity reached 70% for LDPE, 75% for PET, 58% for HDPE/PP and 62% for ELV-WEEE streams, reflecting the industry’s strong commitment to verified and reliable standards that ensure high-quality recycled materials for the value chain.

“The continued growth of this certification scheme is a clear indicator that RecyClass’ efforts to drive plastics circularity are delivering real impact. RecyClass Recycling Process Certification has become the benchmark for companies seeking to certify their recycling processes and comply with the EN 15343:2007 standard,” said Paolo Glerean, chairman of RecyClass.

To achieve this level of coverage, RecyClass works with 11 accredited and 7 recognised third-party certification bodies, for a total of more than 120 auditors authorized to issue Recycling Process Certificates.

A nonprofit, cross-industry initiative, RecyClass promotes recyclability, transparency on the origin of plastic waste, and a harmonized approach to the calculation and traceability of recycled plastics across Europe. The organization provides certifications for plastic packaging recyclability, recycling processes and recycled content traceability in plastic products.
