Developed through a collaboration between Morssinkhof Rymoplast, Idelux and Fost Plus, the new Mopet plant for the closed-loop recycling of transparent and opaque PET bottles, as well as trays made from the same material, has started up in Neufchâteau, Belgium.
The plant has total processing capacity of 40,000 tonnes per year, including 10,500 tonnes of trays and 17,500 tonnes of PET bottles, including opaque bottles such as milk bottles. The regenerated material can be used to produce new food-contact packaging.
Investment in the first phase of the project amounted to €68.5 million, provided by Morssinkhof Rymoplast with support from Idelux. The plant will initially employ 90 people, rising to 125 once the facility reaches full capacity.
