European plastics and specialty chemicals distributor Biesterfeld has appointed Jonas Borgsten (pictured) as Global Business Director for its Engineered Polymers business, effective 1 March 2026. He will succeed Martin Rathke, who is set to leave the company after more than 18 years.
Borgsten has been with Biesterfeld since 2024 and currently serves as Regional Director North, with responsibility for the strategic development of the company’s polymers business in the UK, Ireland and the Nordics. He holds master’s degrees in business administration and polymer science and has previously worked at international companies including Dow Chemical and DuPont.
“The Engineered Polymers business is a key pillar of our global strategy and future growth,” commented Stephan Glander, CEO of Biesterfeld. “Jonas Borgsten combines deep market expertise, strong commercial leadership, and a strategic yet hands-on approach, which he has already demonstrated successfully within our organization. I am confident that he will further strengthen and develop this important Business Unit.”
Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, Biesterfeld distributes polymers, rubber, specialty chemicals and ingredients. The group employs more than 1,100 people across over 50 locations in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa, and reported annual revenue of EUR 1.29 billion.
