Italian recycler Aliplast (Hera Group) has stepped in to acquire the PET recycling plant in Carmignano di Brenta (Padua, Italy) from Gurit, the Swiss group that had included the site in its list of Italian assets marked for divestment—along with the Volpiano (Turin) facility, which is set for closure.
With an annual capacity of around 15,000 tonnes of PET, the Carmignano site will strengthen Aliplast’s production capabilities ahead of rising demand driven by the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUP)—which mandates increasing percentages of recycled material in bottles—and the upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
The group is expanding its North Carolina site to support growth in liquid colours and additives for thermoplastics and polyurethanes.
