The integration of Cannon’s polyurethane unit into the 5,500-ton two-platen press at Engel’s technology center in St. Valentin, Austria, was no coincidence. (See video).
Today, the two companies officially announced the launch of a strategic partnership to develop innovative technologies in PUR flooding, the polyurethane coating process for injection-molded components that Engel markets under the Clearmelt brand.

With this process, components are coated with PUR directly in the machine after the injection molding process, resulting in high-quality surface finishes with enhanced resistance to mechanical and chemical agents.
The technology will benefit from Cannon’s extensive expertise in polyurethane processing, drawing on decades of experience.

A prime example of this collaboration is the world's largest injection moulding cell with a PUR system for clearmelt, which has been commissioned at the Engel technical centre in Sankt Valentin. There, customers can conduct practical tests with various PUR colour variants.
The Engel duo 5500 combi M injection moulding machine incorporates Cannon’s advanced mixing and dosing technology, ensuring maximum process stability and operational flexibility. The seamless integration of PUR equipment into Engel’s CC300 control system enhances automation and guarantees top-quality molded parts.
