Polichem joins forces with Greenchemicals in Italy

Greenchemicals acquires production site and application laboratory for additive formulations in engineering plastics.

Polichem Garlasco Italy The Italian producer of flame retardants Greenchemicals has acquired Polichem, a fellow Italian company specializing in additives for thermoplastic engineering polymers. Polichem's portfolio includes nucleating agents, clarifiers, release agents, impact modifiers, chain extenders, and high-performance stabilizers.

This acquisition enhances Greenchemicals' offerings by integrating new technologies to improve the quality of mechanically recycled polymers into its portfolio of halogen-free, environmentally friendly formulations.

The company's headquarters will remain in Desio, Northern Italy, while Polichem's production facility and application laboratory in Garlasco, Pavia, will become part of Greenchemicals' assets.

“We consider this acquisition highly strategic and representing a crucial synergy to consolidate our role in the formulation of plastic additives internationally ,” said Micaela Lorenzi, CEO of Greenchemicals. “We will widen our offer in terms of customized products for styrenics, polyolefins and engineering thermoplastic polymers, focusing more and more on sustainability of plastics.” She added, “All Polichem products can be considered sustainable, since they can lower processing temperatures and allow for higher production rate. The overall performance improves, while higher percentage of recycled products can be used.”
