As Cyclyx prepares to launch its first Circularity Center (CCC1) in Houston next year, the company is moving forward with plans for a second facility (CCC2) dedicated to processing plastic waste.
The new facility will be located in Fort Worth, Texas, with an estimated investment of $135 million. Operations are slated to begin in the second half of 2026. The center will have a capacity of more than 130,000 tonnes per year and is expected to create about 100 new jobs.
The output from the Circularity Centers will largely be supplied to ExxonMobil and LyondellBasell—partners in the Cyclyx joint venture, which also includes a consortium led by Agilyx. Depending on material quality, waste will either be used to formulate recycled compounds or directed to chemical recycling if mechanical processing is not feasible.
Cyclyx Circularity Centers are designed to handle a wide range of plastic waste, including materials often excluded from recycling streams.
“CCC2 will help enable the aggregation and recycling of post-consumer, commercial, and industrial plastic waste often destined for landfills or incineration. We look forward to working with the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex community as well as our feedstock customers to deliver sustainable solutions,” said Joe Vaillancourt, CEO of Cyclyx.
One Cyclyx partner, ExxonMobil, recently announced more than $200 million in investments for chemical recycling facilities at its Baytown and Beaumont sites in Texas, aiming to reach a processing capacity of 450,000 tonnes per year by 2027 (read more).
Another consortium member, LyondellBasell, is exploring the construction of a chemical recycling plant utilizing its proprietary MoReTec technology (pictured) within its Houston refinery. This project is part of a broader plan to transform the site into a biorefinery (read more).
