The Japanese group Daicel has decided to incorporate the engineering plastics operations of subsidiary Polyplastics, effective 1 April 2026, creating the new High Performance Polymers (HPP) strategic business unit.
The Polyplastics companies active in this segment, in Japan and overseas, will be progressively renamed to include the HPP designation, while no changes are planned to product brands or grade names.
Activities related to holding and managing shares in subsidiaries and affiliates will remain outside the scope of the absorption. Once the carve-out is complete, Polyplastics will continue to operate as a financial holding company.
The aim of the transaction—explains the Japanese group—is to create a “New Daicel”. By integrating Polyplastics’ engineering plastics business into Daicel, the Group seeks to maximise corporate value through the sharing of know-how in technical services and solutions, closer coordination with Daicel’s Safety and Materials divisions, the development and deployment of talent to support growth across the Group, and improved efficiency of corporate functions.
