The Swiss group Gurit has sold its 50% stake in Xeltrusion, the Italian company specializing in reactive extrusion systems, to Managing Director Alessio Morino, who now takes full ownership of the business.
Xeltrusion designs and builds reactive extrusion systems based on co-rotating twin-screw extruders for foaming materials such as XPET, XPS, XPE and biopolymers.
According to a company statement, Gurit will continue collaborating with Xeltrusion, focusing on the continuous improvement of production line efficiency and technological innovation.
This is Gurit’s second divestment in Italy this year, following the sale of its Volpiano plant (active in foam production) and the Carmignano di Brenta site (PET recycling), the latter acquired by Aliplast (see here).
Based in Ciriè, near Turin, Xeltrusion was founded by Alessio Morino, a mechanical engineer with long-standing experience in the foam extrusion industry. He began his career in the R&D department of BC Foam, a company focused on equipment for expanded plastics. In 2008, he was promoted to managing director, and in 2012 he led the company through its acquisition by BASF. At the end of 2016, Gurit entered the picture with a new acquisition that led to the formation of Xeltrusion.
