Christian Fischer (pictured), chief sustainability officer at Schüco, has been elected president of EPPA, the European association of PVC window systems producers. He succeeds Götz Schmiedeknecht, co-CEO of Salamander Industrie-Produkte, whose 2024–25 term has come to an end.
Fischer will be joined by Andreas Hartleif, CEO of the VEKA Group, who has been appointed vice president.
Having previously served as EPPA’s vice president, Fischer brings extensive experience and a strong commitment to sustainability and circular innovation in the building products sector.
His appointment marks a new chapter in EPPA’s development, building on recent efforts to enhance coordination across national markets. Over the past year, important groundwork has been laid to strengthen the association’s presence in Germany, France and Poland—supporting the alignment of national-level activities with a shared European vision.
At the same time, EPPA has also reinforced its role in Brussels as a key stakeholder in EU policymaking, with more active participation in regulatory processes affecting window profiles and the broader construction products sector.
To support this strategy, EPPA is currently recruiting a policy officer for its Brussels office. The position involves monitoring EU legislation, coordinating expert groups, managing technical dossiers and supporting the association’s advocacy efforts (more details available on the association’s website).
EPPA represents European manufacturers of PVC window systems and building products. The industry employs approximately 25,000 people, processes around 1.4 million tonnes of PVC annually and generates revenues of approximately €4 billion.
