In a move that beat expectations by wrapping up earlier than planned, the merger between Berry Global and Amcor was officially completed on April 30, just days after securing final antitrust approvals.
The newly formed group becomes a global powerhouse in consumer packaging, with operations spanning flexible films, rigid containers, closures and a robust portfolio of health care packaging solutions.
The new entity will continue operating under the Amcor name, maintaining its headquarters in Zurich and an additional operational hub in the United States. Peter Konieczny, Amcor's current CEO, will remain at the helm.
The companies project that the merger will yield $650 million in synergies over the next three years through cost savings, financial efficiencies and new growth opportunities.
“Through this combination, Amcor has enhanced positions in attractive categories, a broader, more complete customer offering and expanded material science and innovation capabilities,” said Konieczny. “As a result, we believe we are now uniquely positioned to deliver more consistent and sustainable organic growth and further improve margins, in line with our strategy.”
Post-merger, the new Amcor will operate more than 400 manufacturing facilities and employ around 75,000 people, with projected pro forma revenue of approximately $24 billion.
