On March 24, we attended the inauguration of the new mechanical recycling plant for styrenic waste in Porto Marghera, built by Versalis (ENI Group) as part of the redevelopment plan for the former petrochemical site.
The Italian facility will be able to produce up to 20,000 tons per year of expanded polystyrene (rEPS) and general-purpose polystyrene (rGPPS), with a recycled content of up to 100 percent, using secondary raw materials derived from expanded polystyrene waste—initially sourced from the construction sector.
During our visit, we interviewed the company’s CEO, Adriano Alfani, and Versalis’s head of recycling, Franco Meropiali.
