Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo (pictured), has been re-elected for another two-year term as president of Cefic, the European Chemical Industry Council.
Beginning in January 2025, she will also assume the presidency of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), the global voice of the chemical industry.

According to a statement, Kadri's re-election reflects the dedication of Cefic’s members to a shared vision of European progress and resilience. She will continue to represent the industry’s priorities at the highest levels, ensuring the chemical sector not only meets but leads Europe’s transformation to a sustainable, more competitive, and more resilient future.

Together, we are proving the power of partnership, driving innovation, and tackling Europe’s greatest challenges—from climate change to industrial resilience. The world is watching Europe, and the chemical industry, ‘the mother of all industries,’ is the foundation of a sustainable and competitive future. My commitment remains firm: to support our sector’s transition while ensuring Europe remains a competitive hub for innovation, investment, and opportunity,” said Ilham Kadri, re-elected Cefic president.

With dual French and Moroccan nationality, Kadri holds an engineering degree from the Ecole d'Application des Hauts Polymères in Strasbourg and a Ph.D. in macromolecular physics and chemistry from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg. Appointed CEO of the Belgian group Solvay in 2019, she took over the leadership of Syensqo last year following the spin-off of polymer specialties and composites from the Belgian chemical group.
