The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) and the World Plastics Council (WPC), two organizations representing the chemicals and plastics industries, have agreed to merge their structures.
The integration of WPC into ICCA’s structure is intended to strengthen coordination and support a more coherent approach to plastics policy within the broader chemicals agenda.
All ongoing initiatives and partnerships will continue under the new structure.
“By aligning our efforts, we can deepen cooperation across regions and value chains, reinforce science-based advocacy, and strengthen the industry’s engagement in global policy discussions,” said Markus Kamieth, CEO of BASF and ICCA president.
“The World Plastics Council is recognised as a trusted global platform for dialogue and multi-stakeholder collaboration,” added Benny Mermans, WPC chair. “Integrating into ICCA will help us increase our impact through close alignment with the broader chemicals industry and deliver effective solutions that benefit people and the planet.”
