TeraPlast expands into Iberia

The Romanian processor is taking over Aliaxis’ polyethylene pipe plant in northern Spain.

aliaxis spain masa pipes PE Romanian group TeraPlast is pressing ahead with its acquisition strategy in the plastic pipe sector and entering the Iberian market by acquiring Aliaxis’ MASA polyethylene pipes business in Spain, under an agreement signed in recent days.

The deal concerns a plant in Okondo, northern Spain, about 20 kilometres from Bilbao. With annual production capacity of 16,000 tonnes and 82 employees, the facility generated turnover of €29.4 million last year, supported by a solid customer base in Spain, France and Germany.

TeraPlast has announced plans to invest €4 million over the next three years to modernise and expand the production infrastructure.

The value of the transaction will be determined and paid at closing, starting from a base value of €6.7 million. This could be subject to downward adjustments depending on actual working capital, according to an agreed mechanism.

In doing so, we are showing that Romanians can come to Western Europe not only to work in agriculture and hospitality, but also to invest, build industrial businesses and generate profits.”
“We decided to enter the Spanish market because we have a solid understanding of the dynamics of the European water and gas systems market, and because the country’s economy is dynamic and on a positive trend,” Goia added.
