As it reported its 2025 financial results, petrochemicals group Sabic announced a leadership change, appointing Faisal Al-Faqeer (pictured) as CEO in place of Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, who has held the position for four years, including a period in an acting capacity.
The appointment will take effect on 1 April 2026. At the same time, the seat on the Board of Directors vacated by Al-Fageeh will be filled on an interim basis by Ibrahim Al-Buainain.
BIOGRAFY. A chemical engineering graduate with a Master of Science and a PhD in materials science, Faisal Al-Faqeer currently serves as Senior Vice President of In-Kingdom Liquids-to-Chemicals Development at Saudi Aramco. He also sits on Sabic’s Board of Directors, where he chairs the Risk and Sustainability Committee. He previously served as CEO of Sadara Chemical and as chairman of the boards of Arlanxeo and Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company.
Sabic closed fiscal year 2025 with revenues of 116.5 billion riyals (-1%), equal to about €26.69 billion, reflecting higher volumes but lower average prices than in 2024. In terms of profitability, the group posted a net loss of 25.78 billion riyals, compared with a profit of 1.54 billion in the previous year. Adjusted net income, however, came in at 2.1 billion riyals.
