The recycling downturn affecting Europe is also weighing on equipment suppliers, including those operating in more technology-intensive segments.
Against this backdrop, Tomra Recycling—the Norwegian group’s division specializing in waste sorting technologies—has unveiled a cost reduction plan aimed at restoring margins, including workforce cuts.
The program targets gross annual savings of €16 million by 2027. Measures include rightsizing the organization and optimizing the company’s global footprint through the elimination of 175 full-time positions (FTEs), with one-off charges estimated at around €15 million.
The company says the past year has been particularly challenging, with customer investment declining in the recycling segment.
Since September last year, the Recycling division has been led by Lars Enge.
