With Implementing Regulation 2025/2287, published on 12 November, the European Commission has imposed provisional duties on imports of adipic acid from China.
This intermediate chemical is used primarily in the production of polyamide 66 for plastics and fibers, but it is also employed in adhesives, sealants, plasticizers and polyester polyols.
The anti-dumping investigation was opened last March following a complaint filed by Lanxess Deutschland and Radici Chimica and covered the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024.
The Commission concluded that the significant increase in market share of dumped imports from China, sold at prices below those in the EU, had caused substantial injury to the Union industry.
Based on the findings, Brussels has decided to introduce provisional border duties ranging from 28.6%, applied to Chongqing Huafon Chemical, to 46.8% for imports from Tangshan Zhonghao Chemical and other Chinese producers. For companies that cooperated with the investigation and provided the requested data, the duty rate is reduced to 32%.
