The European Parliament has definitively approved the new EU regulation aimed at preventing the loss of plastic pellets — a major source of microplastic pollution.
The proposal, first tabled by the European Commission two years ago, targets the entire supply chain involved in handling plastic pellets.
The new rules apply to all operators handling more than five tonnes of plastic pellets per year, as well as EU and non-EU transport carriers — regardless of the transport mode.
