Trinseo has announced the permanent closure of two of its key manufacturing plants in Italy by the end of the year: the methyl methacrylate (MMA) production unit at its Rho site near Milan, and the acetone cyanohydrin (ACH) facilities—an MMA precursor—at its Porto Marghera site in Venice.
The move is part of a broader restructuring strategy aimed at improving the company’s annual profitability by approximately $20 million, despite anticipated one-time charges ranging from $80 million to $100 million related to employee severance, asset impairments and plant decommissioning.
