Arterex, the manufacturing hub for plastic medical devices created by Italian private equity firm Investindustrial, has completed another acquisition following those of Italy’s Phoenix and the U.S.-based Adroit.
Now under Arterex’s control is Xponent Global, an ISO 9001:2015–certified producer of extruded tubes for medical applications headquartered in Massachusetts, U.S.
The company operates eight extrusion lines across a 5,100 m² facility—465 m² of which are in an ISO Class 8 cleanroom—and manufactures high-quality, precise filaments; over-the-wire extrusion; multi-lumen, tapered, para and tight-tolerance single-lumen tubing for a wide range of applications, from simple packaging tubes to demanding products used in neurological and laparoscopic devices.
“With this acquisition, we can serve the extrusion needs of our North American customers locally at the highest global industry standards,” emphasizes Bill Gerard, president of Arterex North America.
Founded three years ago through the merger of U.S.-based Formula Plastics and Italy’s Kabo, Luc & Bel and ModenPlast, Arterex has since acquired North America’s NextPhase in 2023, MicroMold last year and, most recently, Phoenix, Adroit and Xponent Global. Today, the group operates 14 plants across the United States, Mexico, Egypt, India and Italy, employs over 2,000 staff and specializes in contract manufacturing of Class I, II and III medical devices.
