Assorimap – the Italian association of plastic recyclers – unveiled its latest report on the country's plastic recycling performance for 2024 in Milan during the GreenPlast trade fair. The study was prepared by the Milan-based consultancy firm Plastic Consult.
Although volumes are on the rise, revenues are not, confirming a sector in recession, as Assorimap President Walter Regis explained. “The market is increasingly complex, and the Italian supply chain is fragile,” he said. “It's been holding on for years, but between 2024 and 2025, the first closures arrived: about 10 in Northern Europe, and two also in Italy.”
