The Austrian company Engel is set to manufacture injection moulding machines in India through a strategic partnership with Electronica Plastic Machines (EPM), a renowned producer of hydraulic IMM.
As part of the agreement, Engel has acquired a stake in EPM.
Aditya Ratnaparkhi, Managing Director of EPM, will continue to lead the company, ensuring stability and continuity. The Austrian group will contribute its global network and technical expertise while preserving the independence of the Indian company.
Based in Pune, EPM is a second-generation family business that has been manufacturing plastic molding machines for over 30 years. “Engel and EPM share a common mindset, that emphasises family ownership, sustainable business practices, and a people-first approach,” the Austrian group stated. “This alignment provides a strong foundation for the partnership.”
Leveraging the Indian government’s "Make in India" initiative, the Pune facility will serve as a hub for producing injection moulding machines designed to meet local market demands. Additionally, there is potential for exporting these machines to markets in the Middle East and Africa.
For Indian manufacturers, the partnership will provide easier access to advanced technology, locally produced machines, and optimized after-sales services. Engel aims to reduce delivery times and offer competitive pricing, enhancing its presence and service quality in the region.
