Versalis, the chemicals arm of Italian group Eni, will not reach Ebit break-even in 2027 as previously indicated, but in the second half of 2028. The announcement was made in recent days by Versalis CEO Adriano Alfani during discussions with financial analysts held alongside the presentation of the new 2026-2030 Plan.
“Chemicals has faced a number of issues, including weaker demand for certain products; we want to mitigate the situation and, for this reason, we will implement additional actions. Ebit break-even is therefore delayed by one year.”
Versalis closed 2025 with a loss of €819 million, broadly in line with the previous year (€814 million), while sales volumes fell by 14% to 2.72 million tonnes from 3.17 million tonnes in 2024 (read article).
