After several months under self-administered insolvency proceedings (see article), Treofan Germany has found a new buyer. A company within the Emirati industrial group Al Ghurair has taken over the business from Jindal, operating under the new name Polyopt.
“Under the new management,” the company said in a statement, “the focus is on upgrading production assets, strengthening the technical portfolio, and securing long-term competitiveness in the highest-value segments.”
The plans include the relaunch of the capacitor film segment and the consolidation of expertise developed in flexible packaging.
Treofan was acquired in 2018 by Jindal together with its three BOPP film plants, two in Italy and one in Germany. In the following years, the Indian group divested the Battipaglia plant, sold to Jcoplastic, and the Terni plant, sold to Visopack, both in Italy, retaining only the German site, which has now been sold to Al Ghurair Group.
Al Ghurair Group operates in the
packaging sector through a range of activities, including flexible packaging via its subsidiaries Taghleef Industries and Arabian Flexible Packaging.
“Polyopt represents a new beginning for this historic site,” said Detlef Schuhmann, CEO of Al Ghurair Petrochemicals. “This relaunch goes beyond upgrading equipment—it is about re-establishing a culture of excellence and empowering people to shape the site’s next phase.”
