The Italian group Sacmi has completed a major acquisition in France in the field of machinery for food packaging. It has secured a 65% stake in Groupe Emballage Technologies, a French group comprising Etpack, Sermatec and Pactisoud, through the subsidiary Sacmi Packaging & Chocolate, the division operating in food packaging technologies.
Under the agreement, Groupe Emballage Technologies will retain its managerial autonomy.
The two groups already had partnerships and synergies in place: in Poland with Etpack and in France with Sermatec, where the flowpack ranges and low- and medium-speed vertical packaging machines designed by the Italian group are assembled.
“Strengthening our food packaging operations is a key Sacmi goal,” notes the president of Sacmi, Paolo Mongardi. “The skills and far-reaching presence of Groupe Emballage Technologies on the French market will bolster our growth there, which is extremely important to us.”
“The complementary nature of our primary and secondary packaging solutions completes Sacmi’s technological proposal,” adds Mongardi, “opening up new market opportunities via the full involvement of our global network.”
