With Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2328, the European Commission has raised the anti-dumping duties on imports of certain continuous filament glass fibre products from China, after finding that the existing measures were insufficient.
The decision follows a review prompted by the European industry association Glass Fibre Europe.
The revised duties apply to chopped strands no longer than 50 mm, rovings (excluding those that are impregnated or coated), and mats made of glass fibre filaments, excluding glass wool products.
“The revision of duties is a necessary response to the evolving tactics by Chinese producers, whose intensified predatory practices have further harmed the European industry,” said Cédric Janssens, secretary general of Glass Fibre Europe. “We commend the European Commission for its vigilance and determination to uphold fair competition.”
At the same time, the association has drawn attention to ongoing investigations into glass fibre products originating from Bahrain, Egypt, and Thailand, where—according to Glass Fibre Europe—Chinese state-owned enterprises have relocated production to circumvent existing EU measures applied to China.
“We look forward to the Commission addressing this loophole and imposing robust measures on products from these countries,” Janssens added. “Only by closing these gaps can the EU ensure the effectiveness of its trade defense instruments and protect the future of our industry and Europe’s economic security.”
