Italy-based Laborplast has completed the installation of a new high-speed mixing plant, supplied by Plantech CST (Syncro-Group), based on Turbo Mix technology (hot and cold mixer) from the Caccia-MYX series.
Aimed at formulating a new family of partially recycled PVC compounds, the new plant will be operational by the end of the year, allowing Laborplast to expand its product offerings and reach industries that previously relied exclusively on virgin PVC.
Marketed under the Eco-Prime brand, the new ready-to-use dry blend for extrusion and injection molding will contain a minimum of 30% certified recycled PVC, under the Plastica Seconda Vita (PSV) label. Main applications include automotive, construction, furniture, and industrial packaging. According to Laborplast, the new Eco-Prime formulations can also offer up to 20% energy savings compared to virgin material granulation.
“The installation of this new plant represents significant progress for Laborplast, not only in terms of production capacity, but also in the quality and innovation of the solutions we are able to offer our customers,” said Roberto Pariani, CEO of Laborplast. “This strategic operation allows us to strengthen our competitiveness in a constantly evolving market, while guaranteeing a solid commitment to sustainability, a central pillar of our corporate mission.”
Pariani added, “Our collaboration with Syncro-Group has allowed us to adopt cutting-edge technology to respond more efficiently to our customers’ needs and pursue our ambitious environmental sustainability goals. This investment strengthens our position in the industrial sector, enabling us to develop innovative solutions to meet market challenges successfully.”
The turnkey system, supplied by Plantech CST, includes: combo mixer; high-vacuum pump group; big bag emptying stations for PVC powder, calcium carbonate (CaCO3), and micronized recycled PVC; weighed cyclone filters; bag conveyor belt for pre-weighed additives; liquid dosing and pre-heating stations; pneumatic conveying systems for dry blend transportation to extrusion lines; and an automated control system for the mixer and feeding system, managed via PLC with fully customized supervision software.
Founded in 1958 in a small factory in the province of Varese, Northern Italy, Laborplast operates in the production of recycled PVC cores, compounds, and PVC rods. It employs 60 workers across 12 production lines in two plants, processing about 30,000 tons of material annually into compounds and coil cores. The company produces over 70% of its products using recycled material and is certified under ISO 9001:2015 (quality), ISO 45001:2018 (safety), ISO 14001:2015 (environment), and ISO 5001:2018 (energy), in addition to the Gender Equality and Plastica Seconda Vita Mix Eco certifications.
