Ineos is sharpening its tools and preparing to lead a campaign against low-cost, high-carbon imports from Asia, the Middle East and the United States, which it argues are threatening European manufacturing — and for which it claims “Brussels’ weak trade defenses” offer no effective protection.
The British group has confirmed that it has filed, or is in the process of filing, 10 major anti-dumping cases with the European Commission. Petitions have already been submitted for ABS and 1,4-butanediol (BDO), according to the company, and further cases will follow concerning PVC, MEG (monoethylene glycol), PTA, polyethylene glycols, butyl acetate, caustic soda, acetic acid, acetic anhydride and polyolefins.
