Borealis has recently brought onstream in Beringen, Belgium, a new compounding plant for polyolefins containing recycled content. It’s part of its EverMinds circularity program, which has been expanded through the recent acquisitions of Rialti in Italy (compounding) and Integra Plastics in Bulgaria (recycling). 

The new line is based on the Borcycle M mechanical recycling platform and enables the blending of post-consumer polyolefins with virgin resins to produce high-performance polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) compounds. These materials are suited for technical applications in sectors such as mobility, consumer goods, household appliances and energy.

In addition to producing compounds (around 400,000 t/y), the Beringen site also serves as a co-development platform, allowing customers to work directly with Borealis to design and test new recycled-content formulations for high-value applications, supporting the group’s upcycling approach.
