French specialty-materials group Arkema will build a new $20 million unit at its Singapore complex to triple production of Rilsan Clear, the company’s transparent polyamide 11 line.
The Asian site already increased capacity for standard Rilsan grades by 50% in 2022.

Rilsan Clear grades are derived from castor beans, a renewable feedstock. Arkema’s Rnew G850 and G820 variants contain 45% and 62% bio-based carbon, respectively, combining low weight, transparency and flexibility with strong chemical resistance and stable performance across a wide temperature range.

Demand for sustainable, high-performance transparent polymers is surging in eyewear, consumer electronics, medical devices and home appliances, Arkema says.

The new facility is scheduled to start up in the first quarter of 2026.
