After announcing a review of its European assets in recent months (read), U.S. group Dow confirmed today that it will permanently shut the ethylene cracker in Böhlen, Germany, along with the chlor-alkali and vinyls units in nearby Schkopau within two years.
In addition, the basics siloxanes plant in Barry, United Kingdom—already slated for closure—will be shut down for good by mid-next year.
The group is expanding its North Carolina site to support growth in liquid colours and additives for thermoplastics and polyurethanes.
