The Bulgarian group Plastchim-T will launch a new production line for biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film next year at its Sessa Aurunca site in southern Italy (province of Caserta), following the acquisition of Manucor in 2024.
The new extrusion line, already ordered from Brückner Maschinenbau, will feature a width of 8.7 meters and a five-layer BOPP configuration. It is scheduled to start operations at the Campania-based facility by the fourth quarter of 2026.
“Our investments in these rather turbulent times clearly demonstrate our character as a strong family business,” said Beyan Faik, managing director of Plastchim-T. “After acquiring Manucor last year, we are now looking to the future by investing in a new line at their site, expanding our portfolio particularly in the specialty film area.”
“With this step, Plastchim-T is making a clear commitment to our location in Sessa Aurunca as well as to film production in Italy and Europe in general,” added Luigi Scagliotti, CEO of Manucor.
Plastchim-T is among Europe’s leading producers of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) and cast polypropylene (CPP) films, as well as flexible packaging solutions. The Sessa Aurunca plant specializes in BOPP films for flexible food packaging, adhesive tapes, self-adhesive labels, and wrap-around labels, with an annual capacity of 80,000 tonnes and a workforce of approximately 250 employees.
Overall, the Bulgarian group’s production capacity amounts to more than 200,000 tons per year.
