The U.S. antitrust authority has raised no objections to the merger between packaging giants Amcor and Berry Global, which was announced at the end of last year.
The companies also confirm that a number of additional approvals have been received from regulatory authorities in recent weeks, including antitrust clearances from China and Brazil, while approval is still pending from the European Commission and other countries involved in the deal.
The merger, which was recently approved by the shareholders of both companies, is expected to be finalized within the planned timeline, by midyear.
The operation will create a global packaging powerhouse specializing in consumer goods packaging, flexible films, rigid containers and closures, as well as a portfolio of medical packaging solutions. The combined entity will operate 400 manufacturing plants in 140 countries, generating revenues of approximately $24 billion and an adjusted EBITDA of $4.3 billion.
