Coca-Cola has revised its 2035 environmental commitments, scaling back its target for recycled materials in primary packaging to 35-40% across plastic, glass, and aluminum, with a global goal of 30-35% for recycled plastic.
The company also aims to collect 70-75% of the bottles and cans it puts on the market.
The beverage giant remains committed to producing 100% recyclable packaging—already at 95%—and advancing recycling infrastructure and policies. Investments in refillable solutions will continue where supporting infrastructure exists.
Notably, the revised plan omits a prior commitment to make 25% of packaging reusable and lowers the recycled plastic target from the 50% goal set under its "World Without Waste" initiative for 2030.
Coca-Cola acknowledges that achieving its 2035 goals will require ongoing investments in innovation, supportive policies, and close collaboration with bottling partners, industries, governments, and civil society.
"We remain committed to building long-term business resilience and earning our social license to operate through our evolved voluntary environmental goals," said Bea Perez, executive vice president and global chief communications, sustainability, and strategic partnerships officer at The Coca-Cola Company. "These challenges are complex and require us to drive more effective and efficient resource allocation and work collaboratively with partners to deliver lasting positive impact."
