Italian company Proma Group has signed an agreement to acquire the German operations of Recaro Automotive, the renowned car seat supplier that declared insolvency in August. This strategic move aims to ensure business continuity and revitalize Recaro's European activities.
Proma Group will retain several employees from the original sales and technology departments at Recaro Automotive Germany, which will be based in Kirchheim unter Teck near Stuttgart. In January, aftermarket seats will be available, and OEM production will be reolocated to Italy, with the first seats entering production.
“This acquisition will strengthen our ability to deliver a premium seating product while embracing the most cutting-edge innovations in the automotive sector,” said Luca Pino, CEO of Proma Group, emphasizing the union of German engineering and Italian manufacturing prowess.
Recaro Automotive’s activities in North America, Japan, and its Chinese joint ventures, unaffected by the insolvency, will continue as usual.
Proma Group, an Italian leader in automotive components since the 1980s, operates 25 facilities with 5,000 employees and generates €1.1 billion in annual revenue.
