Amut, the Italian manufacturer of extrusion and plastic recycling systems, has completed the second of three plants commissioned by the SMI Group, a South American food and beverage industry giant, in Bogotá, Colombia.
The recently completed project involved a turnkey plant for recycling post-consumer bottles, with a capacity of 3,000 kilograms per hour of rPET granules. The installation includes a front-end system for pre-sorting and pre-washing bottles, featuring the patented Delabeller wet system for label removal.
Last December, SMI inaugurated Peru’s largest bottle recycling plant in Lima, where Amut supplied the first of three PET recycling lines. That facility, with a capacity of 6,000 kilograms per hour, was configured similarly to the 3,000 kilograms per hour plant recently completed in Colombia.
Additionally, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, assembly work is underway on the third line commissioned by the SMI Group, under the supervision of Amut technicians. This line will integrate sorting and washing with a capacity, once again, of 3,000 kilograms per hour.
