Siropack Italia has granted Goodpack exclusive rights for the Romanian market to its Respect packaging technology.
With consolidated revenue exceeding €50 million, Goodpack is one of Southeast Europe’s leading independent producers of thermoformed food packaging, with a strong focus on mono-material solutions. Production is vertically integrated, with both extrusion and thermoforming lines across three production plants in Romania and Bulgaria.
Signed in recent days by Siropack owners Rocco De Lucia and Barbara Buriol , together with Goodpack Romania General Manager Barabas Ferencz and Teda Pack CEOs Teodora Mladenova and Danail Mladenov (pictured), the deal covers Siropack Italia’s patented Respect process, which will be implemented on several systems to be delivered to Goodpack.
Through a special treatment applied to the tray rim, the pack achieves tamper-evident and anti-counterfeiting features, as well as a fully sealed closure. Combined with PET lidding film supplied by Italy-based Piaceplast—containing at least 80% recycled content—the technology enables a mono-material rPET pack.
The process unfolds in four steps. First, a surface treatment of the rim using laser passes cleans the surface, preparing it for optimal adhesion of the adhesive layer, without silicone.
This is followed by application of the adhesive, deposited only on the sealing rim by a special roller. Quality control of the adhesive layer is then carried out by camera, leveraging the phosphors contained in the adhesive, which re-emit the received electromagnetic radiation as violet light. The final step is sealing the pack.
“The partnership with Goodpack began last October during the K trade fair in Düsseldorf,” said Rocco De Lucia. “We immediately found common ground on sustainability and mono-material solutions. Goodpack chose our technology because it is the only one that allows a technologically advanced food container to be placed on the market in full compliance with recyclability, sustainability and food-safety requirements, without infringing other intellectual property present in the European market,” he added. “The strategic agreement, through the purchase of a series of machines, will enable Goodpack to meet the volumes required by a rapidly expanding market.”
